Biography |
| Shelly-Ann, otherwise known as Lady Shelly, has been actively involved in the music industry since 1995. She started her music career doing house, techno and dance for Quebec based record label, Numuzik. She was later signed to a 3 years recording contract with Premiere Muzik International. Between 1995 and 1996 she had three number one hits, namely, sweet party, get it on and macarena that's me. Lady Shelly was crowned artist of the year in the Dominica Republic in the late nineties and toured the island not once, but twice. After releasing a much anticipated full length album (endurance), and receiving a music achievement award for going gold in Canada, Lady Shelly took a break from the industry and later re-entered focusing primarily on reggae/dancehall. She released a slew of controversial tracks which all had the media lining up for interviews. Tracks such as welcome to Canada, which describes the stereotype of Jamaican immigrants in Canada, and kum out, which focuses on domestic abuse, as well as many others. After spending several years in Canada, Lady Shelly moved back to her home, Kingston Jamaica in 2007 and began to really focus on the reggae/dancehall industry. With an academic background in business and marketing, she assisted several West Indian artists in promoting their respective projects. While on a North American tour in 2008, Lady Shelly got ill and had to return to Canadian for medical attention, which later resulted in a surgery in November 2009. By the end of January 2010, doctors gave Lady Shelly the green light to return to work. She immediately hit the studio and began recording song after song after song. All of which has now resulted in two mix CDs being released in a matter of weeks as well as a slew of singles. Strictly Music, No Politics is the name of the first mix CD, It is being mixed by Massive G from Rock the Nation Sound out of Europe. The second mix is called Transition and Triple Crown from Blessed Coast Sound, which is based in the U.S.A Bay Area, is responsible for that mix. The Transition CD is a precursor to the Lady Shelly tour happening in July/August 2010 in that region. Lady Shelly is currently enjoying success from her single, bulletproof, which is produced by Triple Crown. The track is currently climbing the charts in Europe and is on heavy rotation on radio shows across the nation. In a matter of weeks she will be releasing several other singles one of which is di antidote produced by hip-hop producer, C-sol. Now that she is healthy, Lady Shelly is making it clear that she intends to give 100% to her musical career and advice her fans and supporters to continuously log on to www.ladyshelly.com for new music and general updates. |
